A professor of economics and finance in an informal chat over the weekend jokingly said that the finance dictionary now has a new word.
I was shocked when he said Trump. I then asked what it means in the economics and finance dictionary and he said RISKY (emphasis added). According to him, Donald Trump’s response to all questions on economics after he was nominated as the presidential candidate by the GOP reeks of risk.
Out of curiosity, I headed to youtube to see if there is any abnormal video of the Republican presidential candidate that would warrant this. Well, I must confess that most of the videos that saw dealing on economics make the comment of the professor a no brainer.
I naturally do not comment on politics but this has to be an exception. I will start by quoting Trump “..I will borrow knowing that if the economy crashes, you could make a deal”..CNBC
I wouldn’t bother reproducing all his popular quotes on the economy here but a critical look at the above could be quite revealing.
Firstly, one can say that he has fraudulent intensions. No one would be far from the truth if he or she concludes that Trump plans to set up a shell corporation that would borrow money from both private and public source and then make policy(s) that would crash the economy so that he would repay back the borrowed fund at some discount.
Secondly, he is already heavily in debt and plans to pay them off at discount as soon as he is elected president and crashes the economy with his dangerous policies. After all he said that he has made fortune from debt in the past.
Thirdly, he might just make US to default if his systemic plan to make the economy go bust eventually works and thereby exposing US to the kind of trouble that Greece went through. Common sense would tell is that we cannot meet our international obligations as a nation if our economy goes burst- granted Risky Trump might not know this.
I can go on analysing just that comment of Trump but that would be a waste of time as I believe that justice has been done to what the professor of economics and finance said that Trump now means Risky.
Wait a minute both are 5-lettered words. This cannot be a coincidence. I encourage you economics and finance lexicons out there to make sure that the word ‘Trump’ is added to economics and finance dictionary as meaning Risky.
